About

Independence Day

Independence Day, the Fourth of July, is a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of history, patriotism, and joyous celebration. It’s a day when the air crackles with anticipation, the sky bursts with color, and communities unite to commemorate the birth of a nation. For us at San Tan Fireworks, it’s the pinnacle of the year, a time to witness the power of fireworks to elevate this already extraordinary occasion.

More than just a holiday, July 4th is a profound reminder of the courageous spirit that ignited the American Revolution. It marks the day in 1776 when the thirteen colonies declared their independence from Great Britain, a bold step that reshaped the course of history. The echoes of the Declaration of Independence, with its powerful words about liberty and equality, continue to resonate through generations.

The tradition of fireworks on the Fourth of July dates back to the very first anniversary of independence. In 1777, Philadelphia celebrated with cannons and rockets, setting a precedent that has continued for centuries. Today, we carry on that tradition, striving to create ever more breathtaking displays that capture the awe and wonder of that original celebration.

In a letter to his wife Abigail on July 3, 1776, John Adams, who was then a congressman from Massachusetts and later became the second president of the United States, wrote that the vote for independence “ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade … bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other from this time forward and forevermore.”

Yet, no president said it better than President Thomas J. Whitmore – “Today we celebrate our Independence Day!”
